No more coffee?

Yesterday we went to one of my favourite local cafes to do one of my favourite things - have a cup of coffee...
The experience, however, was ruined by the fact that my lovely latte was served in a non-recyclable landfill-destined polystyrene cup (plus plastic lid). So, we thought, we won't be able to go there during October.
Whilst we sat there the bins got fuller and fuller - how many bin bags must that cafe send each day to landfill?

And, what are we going to do about it?

Why Wasted?

Hi everyone! We are Chayo (nine years old) and Topsy (mum and teacher).
We have decided to challenge ourselves to a month without buying anything that will go into landfill.

We are doing this to reduce global damage, and wastage of resources. We have called it WASTED because we are ANGRY about the state of the world and about how much stuff gets bought and chucked.

We know this month will be difficult as we are so used to buying things in non-recyclable packaging eg. crisps, coffee in polystryrene cups, sandwiches, toys....
